Calabria, Southern Italy
Calabria is situated in the south western corner of Italy, south of Naples with only the Strati of Messina seperating it from the delightful island of Sicily. It is one of Italys best kept secrets and has only recently come to the attention of overseas investors and tourists. The character of this beautiful region is formed by its breathtaking disparate landscape of mountain ranges, kms of sandy beaches and secluded coves. There are charming traditional villages and more established resorts such as Scalea, Tropea and Zambrone. The region comprises of five provinces, each with its distinctive character.
Accesing Calabria has never been easier, servied by airports at Reggio Calabria, Crotone and a third at Lamenzia Terme. Alternatively popular options are to fly into Naples or Palermo and take advantage of the fantastic scenery via train. Alternatively there is a direct intercity train direct from Rome to Tropea, Scalea and Consenza.

Surprisingly for Italy, prices in the Calabria region are affordable and there is a wide array of new build development of apartments and villas close to the beach. However as more and more buyers are starting to discover this are prices are also starting to see a rise. You can still find one bedroom properties in the region starting from 60,000 Euro and villas can start from 180,000 Euros.
As the low-cost airlines have spread their wings across greater parts of Europe than ever before, so new areas of Italy are opening up to the overseas property buyer, and allowing a greater range of properties to make their way to the market.
