The world’s largest thematic aquarium complex located in a suburb of Istanbul in Florya opened its doors for the visitors.
“Istanbul Aquarium” consists of two floors and occupies the area of 22,000 sqm. There are totally 64 aquariums with the capacity of more than 6,800 cubic meters, accommodating approximately 1.500 species, 15.000 land and sea creatures in total.
A special-themed 1,2 km long travel route starts from the Black Sea “residents” following the Bosphorus to the Sea of Marmora, the Suez Canal, Red Sea, Antarctica affects, then through the Panama Canal and the Atlantic Ocean to the forests of Amazonia. All living creatures in “Istanbul Akvaryum” live in the conditions as much as possible close to their natural habitat.
The complex also includes: 3 cafeterias on the travel route, a gift shop with an area of 470 square meters and 1 restaurant with Panama Canal view on one side and the sea view on the other as well as the 5D cinema with a mini-films that not only reproduces three-dimensional image and sound, but also the variety of weather conditions including wind, fog and rain.
The ticket price for adults is 29 TL, discount ticket for students and retired people – 22 TL, and for children under 2 years the entrance is free.
